Winnie Atyang has been appointed as the new Lady Cranes 7s Team Manager by the Uganda Rugby Union Executive Committee.
About Winnie Atyang:
Winnie joins URU after serving on the Executive Committee of Kyadondo Rugby Club as a Women’s Representative. Winnie is a self-motivated business woman and has run several projects notably the Winnie Atyang Foundation clinics and Naguru Young mothers back to school project supporting rugby playing young mothers to realize the purpose of returning to school to attain qualifications and support their livelihood ahead.
Winnie previously played for the Lady Cranes XVs & 7s teams and was part of the team that played in the 2009 7s Rugby World Cup in Dubai. Winnie has previously served as Captain and Acting Team Manager of Thunderbirds Rugby Club and has attained several qualifications since including – Certificate Sports Management (SAC), Certificate in Advanced Sports Management (ASMC) from the International Olympic Committee and Certificate in First Aid in Rugby (L1), Certificate in ACTIVATE (World Rugby) and is currently undertaking the Rugby Africa LUNEX Sports Training Management Program on secondment by Uganda Rugby Union.
Uganda Rugby Union hopes to leverage her experience to empower and build a stronger Lady Cranes 7s program as they continue on their High Performance program.
