Uganda’s Under 20 side will play for the Barthés Trophy First Division title tomorrow when they host Zambia in the decisive second leg at Muteesa II Stadium.
After a commanding 81-0 win in Friday’s opener, Uganda go into Tuesday’s match with a clear opportunity to close out the two-leg series and lift the First Division crown.
A win would secure a 2-0 series sweep for Uganda and strengthen their case for promotion to the Performance Division in future editions. That pathway is central to Rugby Africa’s structure: the First Division winner is elevated to the higher tier, bringing stronger competition and a clearer route toward the World Rugby U20 Trophy pathway.
For Zambia, a victory would level the series and provide valuable momentum as they continue building their U20 programme.
BIGGER PICTURE FOR UGANDA RUGBY
Beyond the standings, the match carries real meaning for Uganda Rugby. Success at U20 level is a key indicator of progress in the national player pathway, helping bridge the gap between school rugby and the senior national team.
A strong showing tomorrow would also build confidence ahead of the senior Test match against Zimbabwe on Saturday, 15 August, and send a positive message to the next generation watching from the stands.

5. Kazo CU Primary
At Kyadondo – Zimbabwe U20
Zimbabwe’s U20 side also ran an introduction to rugby session with:
1. Glo Star Junior School
2. Ernest Primary School
Both sessions focused on basic skills, safety, and teamwork. It’s a practical step in Rugby Africa’s push to grow the game at grassroots level during the U20 Barthés Trophy.
