Team captains from across the country will cast their ballots in an online election scheduled for Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Successful candidates will go on to elect 2 athletes who will serve at the Executive Committee for a one year term. The process marks a key moment in strengthening player representation, ensuring athletes have a direct voice in shaping decisions that impact competitions, welfare, and the broader growth of the sport.
The male category features a competitive field drawn from some of the country’s top clubs. Walukuba Barbarians forward Bulima Ivan joins a strong Platinum Credit Heathens duo of Waiswa Yusuf and Okeny Norbert Sexton in the race. They are up against Wanyama Wandera Conrad of Stanbic Black Pirates, Ssempebwa Edrine from KCB Kobs, Kateregga Daniel representing Victoria Sharks, and Olweny Moses of Toyota Buffaloes.

In the women’s general category, Thunderbirds dominate the nominations with Samiya Ayikoru, Asha Nabulime Nakityo, and Agnes Nakuya all in contention, while Tina Akello carries the hopes of Nile Rapids.
A separate contest for the Women’s Rugby Representative position will be decided physically during the AGM on May 1 at Hotel Africana, Nile Hall. This race pits Ms. Sarah Nahabi Elizabeth of Thunderbirds against Ms. Fionah Karungi from Black Pearls.
Beyond the ballot, the election underscores a growing recognition of players’ influence in the game’s governance. From Premiership structures to national team priorities, the elected Athlete Representatives are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping policy, championing player welfare, and advancing women’s rugby development in Uganda.

With key decisions on the horizon, captains and fans alike will be watching closely as the next voices of Ugandan rugby leadership are chosen.
