The 2025 Uganda Cup Quarter Finals drew to a thrilling close today after eight teams battled fiercely for semifinal spots. The intense matches, held over 2 days across multiple venues, showcased top-tier Ugandan rugby talent and set the stage for an exciting semi-final clash.

Action kicked off on Friday, November 21, with two gripping fixtures. At Kings Park Arena, Stanbic Black Pirates dominated Impis RFC with a stretched 68-20 victory. Pirates’ Isaac Masangazira delivered an entertaining performance, while Haruna Muhammad earned MVP honors, presented by Shauna Brown, former Red Roses player, and Tritons women’s captain visiting Uganda. Despite a visible struggle for squad depth, Impis showed resilience, leaving fans optimistic about the team’s future.

Meanwhile, at Legends Rugby Grounds, KCB KOBs displayed precision and control against the Rhinos, securing a solid 36-17 win on the Rhinos.

The quarter finals resumed today with two matches taking place at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds and Ruck Yard, Jinja. At Kyadondo, Platinum Credit Heathens RFC squared off against the Lifeguard Rams, a rematch from the 2023 Uganda Cup Final. Heathens opened the scoring early through a sharp run by winger Joseph Oyet. Odong Joseph further extended their lead with a second try, while Rams responded with a converted try before halftime. The match concluded with Heathens triumphing 44-29, booking their place in the semi finals.

In a tightly-contested game at Ruck Yard, Jinja, the visiting Toyota Buffaloes edged out scrum-heavy Hippos RFC 20-11, showcasing their power and tactical prowess.

With the quarter finals completed, Pirates, KCB KOBs, Heathens, and Toyota Buffaloes advance to the 2025 Uganda Cup Semi Finals. Scheduled for November 29, the semi-finals will see Pirates face KCB Kobs, and Heathens confront Toyota Buffaloes in a home derby.
