Lady Cranes XVs have named their match day starting team ahead of Saturday’s Rugby Africa Women’s Cup 2026 opener against Kenya in Nairobi.

The Starting team features Doreen Sijali, Fazirah Namukwaya, Doreen Mbabazi, Leona Acen, Proscovia Mukyala, Cabrine Kirabo, Suzan Adong, Angella Nanyonjo (C), Juliet Nandawula, Bushira Namutebi, Christine Akello, Peace Lekuru, Grace Nabaggala, Unity Namulala, and Mastula Nambozo.
The replacements are Yvonne Najuuma, Phoebe Nakalembe, Christine Kokoi, Hellen Acanit, Phiona Nantongo, Justine Angucia, Getrude Kateesa, and Shaine Josephine B.
The team’s final preparations included a meeting where captains and players outlined their goals for the tournament, discussed individual roles on the pitch, among others.
“I’m grateful for being part of this journey. This is now your game. We will be on the sidelines to advise and correct, but it is ultimately up to you and your captains.” Coach Muhammad Athiyo said.
The squad was later handed their jerseys as they wrapped up preparations for the East African derby at RFUEA Grounds.
The uncapped players in the squad include: Unity Namulala, Justine Angucia, Getrude Kateesa, and Shaine Josephine B.
Uganda will be hoping to make a strong start to its Performance Division tournament against the hosts tomorrow.
