Kampala, Uganda – 01 July 2026. Uganda Rugby will field two development sides at the 2026 Burundi Regional 7s in Bujumbura scheduled for 4th July 2026 as part of an ongoing strategy to strengthen the national rugby pathway and broaden player experience at international level.
The men’s U23 team, coached by Isaac Massanganzira, and the women’s squad, coached by Edmond Quaresma, will travel to Bujumbura on Thursday, 2 July, for the Burundi Regional 7s. They will play against East African Regional teams including; Rwanda, Burundi, and Tanzania.
“This Regional Tournament is essential for our development, we want to see which players are next in line for both men and women to build a strong pipeline of athletes for the future,” said Ramsey Olinga, Uganda Rugby’s Chief Technical Officer.
“This event is an opportunity to continue building depth in the men and women’s program, test tactical approaches, and identify players who can move into higher levels of national representation.” Dorothy Nekesa, Uganda Rugby Age Grade Rugby Director.
