Press Release: Lady Cranes Head Coach Announces 28 Woman Squad for Rugby Africa Women’s Cup 2026, Performance Division

Kampala, Uganda – May 10, 2026 – Lady Cranes Head Coach Athiyo Muhammad today unveiled a 28-woman squad set to represent Uganda at the 2026 Rugby Africa Women’s Cup Performance Division in Nairobi, Kenya from 21st – 31 May 2026, selected purely on merit from a competitive pool of talented athletes nationwide.

“This selection process was rigorous and merit driven, drawing from the best performers across domestic competitions and the training sessions we have conducted together” said Coach Muhammad. “These players have earned their spots through hard work, skill, and dedication, positioning us for a strong showing.”

The tournament, holds immense importance for Uganda and the Lady Cranes with fixtures set against Africa’s best Women’s teams. A top performance could elevate Uganda’s standings on the continent and internationally, inspiring the next generation of female athletes, and advancing the growth of women’s rugby domestically.
