Jinja, Uganda. 25 July 2026 — The 2026 Stone City 7s, the official first stop of the 2026 Uganda Rugby 7s Series, concluded in style at Ruck Yard Sports Club after two days of fast paced floodlit rugby action. Jinja based sides Walukuba Barbarians and Nile Rapids lifted the men’s and women’s trophies respectively, capping a strong opening weekend for the 2026 series.

The competition, which began on Friday, 24 July, featured 12 core men’s teams and 8 core women’s teams, bringing together some of Uganda’s top sevens talent in a highly competitive and entertaining tournament. The event delivered thrilling knockout rugby, with both finals producing tight finishes that kept fans engaged until the final whistle.

Mens Final brief

In the men’s final, Walukuba Barbarians edged Toyota Buffaloes 12-10 in a hard fought contest to claim the Stone City 7s title.

Women’s Final brief

In the women’s final, Nile Rapids overcame Thunderbirds 7-5 to secure the crown in another closely contested encounter.

Medical update

Tayebwa Charles, Kampani Eagles rfc player who sustained a head injury during the 5^th place Semi – final playoff match against KCB KOBs is stable and recovering well after receiving urgent medication.

Next Stop

Rujumba 7s will be the second Stop of the Uganda rugby 7s Series 2026, from 1^st to 2^nd August 2026 at Kings Park Arena, hosted by Stanbic Black Pirates.

Every Stop features 12 core men’s teams and 8 core women’s teams competing across six stops, supported by the Uganda Rugby 7s Pathway Series, a four-region development competition that provides promotion into the national championship.
