PRESS RELEASE: GAME 2 RUGBY AFRICA WOMEN’S CUP 2026, PERFORMANCE DIVISION (LADY CRANES XVS VS KENYA LIONESSES)
Nairobi, Kenya – 23 May 2026. The Uganda Women’s XVs (Lady Cranes) opened their 2026 Rugby Africa Women’s Cup, Performance Division campaign with a 43–10 defeat to hosts Kenya in Nairobi earlier today.

Facing a well-drilled and physical Kenyan side, the Lady Cranes showed resilience and moments of attacking promise despite the challenging scoreline. Kenya capitalized on early possession and territorial advantage to build momentum, while Uganda continued to fight for control and create opportunities throughout the match.
Uganda’s points came from a well worked converted try, and a successful penalty, reflecting the team’s determination and ability to break through in the first half.

- The fixture marked an important milestone for several debutants who earned their first caps for the Lady Cranes XVs. The debutants included: Getrude Kateesa, Unity Namulala, Justin Anguchia and Shaine Babirye.
