Platinum Credit Heathens Building Depth

Platinum Credit Heathens RFC has entered a partnership with Mbarara’s Ntare School to strengthen rugby development at the school and build a clearer pathway from schoolboy rugby to top-level club rugby. The deal reportedly includes capacity building, coaching visits by Heathens coaches, and broader support for Ntare’s rugby programme, though detailed terms have not yet been made public.

School based rugby remains a major source of players for Ugandan clubs and the national setup, and Ntare School has a strong sporting tradition. Heathens, based at Kyadondo Rugby Club, already emphasize youth and community development, making a school partnership a natural extension of that strategy.

“Talks began some time ago, sparked by our work with the Ntare Lions League’s Abashweki. Support has already started. The MOU formalises what is already under way” Mr Desire Derekford Mugumisa, Chairperson Platinum Credit Heathens

Ntare School will gain regular coaching support, equipment, camps and clinics, a route for talented students into club rugby with education protected, and media exposure. Platinum Credit Heathens RFC will strengthen its linkage to young talent in the region, school level coaching experience, community goodwill, and a model other schools and clubs can follow.

“Education comes first, no pressure on minors. Player release terms agreed in writing. Special thanks, to Asiimwe Bantu, a Heathens fan who worked in the background and was key to both this partnership and the one with Abashweki. We are glad to back individual effort like his. And to Lucky Babigumira, Coach  at Ntare School, for his great work in making this happen”. Mr. Mugumisa added.

By combining structured coaching, equipment and camp support with a firm commitment to education and player welfare, both parties are investing in talent development that extends beyond the pitch. The agreement also sets a promising model for other schools and clubs seeking to grow the game sustainably across the country.
