Nile Rapids Charge Into The Premiership With Dominant Win Over Thunderbirds RFC In Jinja.

Nile Rapids issued a statement in the opening match of the 2026 Uganda Women’s Rugby Premiership, powering a 22-13 victory over Thunderbirds RFC.
Tries from Anguchia Justine, and Fatuma Kirabo sparked Rapids’ attack, with fly half Tina Akello converting clinically, and punishing Thunderbirds errors. Despite a late Thunderbirds rally, Rapids defensive resolve anchored by composure under pressure sealed the points as time expired.
Game Week 1 Standings has Rapids placed in 3rd place with 4 points behind Black Pearls 1st (5pts) and She Wolves 2nd (4pts).

In their fourth year of existence, Rapids are the defending Uganda Cup Champions (2023, 2025), 2025 Kyabazinga 7s winners making these their major trophies.
The team will rest in Game Week 2 before facing Avengers in Entebbe in Week 3.
Finishing 6th last year, they’ve signalled serious intent, and ready to face the battle.
