Kakira Rugby Football Club Charges into Uganda Premiership!

Ignited just 18 months ago, Kakira Rugby Football Club has built a thriving ecosystem: the senior men’s Kakira Simbas, women’s Lioness, and a development side with over 400 boys and girls from neighbouring schools, and hubs power the grassroots program.

Simba’s clinched promotion via the Eastern Regional Championship and playoffs, highlighted by a standout win over KIU Crows. They join the 12 team men’s Uganda Rugby Premiership as one of three Eastern squads alongside Jinja Hippos and Walukuba Barbarians.

Head coach Saidi Atibu shared his excitement: “Qualification to the Premiership is a reward for the hard work and sacrifice put in by everyone at the club, those at the forefront and those behind the scenes. As a Coach, I’m excited to introduce fresh creativity into the game for Uganda and push the team forward with a clear, progressive style of play.”

Kakira Simbas’ debuts in the Premiership on February 7th at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds against Platinum Credit Heathens RFC.
