Media Release: Uganda Rugby 7s Series Conclude with Platinum Credit Heathens and Thunderbirds as Overall Champions at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
KAMPALA, UGANDA — 20th September 2026. Platinum Credit Heathens and Thunderbirds were crowned overall champions of the 2026 Uganda Rugby 7s Series after delivering outstanding performances throughout the competition with the series final stop held at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
Platinum Credit Heathens secured the men’s overall title with 112 points, while Thunderbirds topped the women’s competition with 121 points at the conclusion of the national series. In addition, both teams won the Kabaka Coronation Rugby 7s which was the final stop of the competition with Platinum Credit Heathens Playing against Walukuba Barbarians and Thunderbirds winning against Nile Rapids RFC on coin toss post match

“The 2026 Uganda Rugby 7s Series closes as yet another successful season for the game in this country. Competition sharpened noticeably on both the Men’s and Women’s sides this year, with teams pushing each other to levels we haven’t seen before. That rise in standard also surfaced new challenges and they set an even higher bar for us to clear next season. We now move into a full team review before we officially close out the 2026 season. On behalf of the Organising Committee, I thank Uganda Rugby for the continued trust and the opportunity to serve the game at this level.”
