Legends by Nondies dug deep to retain the Legends Cup edging Uganda Legends 17–10 in a return leg at Kampala Rugby Grounds on Saturday, to secure a 32–26 aggregate victory in the most competitive series yet.

The result followed Uganda Legends’ 16–15 win in Mombasa in the first leg, setting up a winner-takes-all return fixture. Legends by Nondies needed to overturn the deficit, while Uganda Legends chased a historic first series win after their maiden victory in the fixture.
The contest again underlined the value of the veterans’ platform, bringing together some of the best former internationals from both countries. Beyond the scoreline, the fixture continues to keep ex-players active while providing space for welfare, networking, and strengthening rugby ties across the region.

Legends by Nondies had won the first editions comfortably but were pushed much harder this year. Uganda Legends’ narrow win in Mombasa showed how far the gap has closed, and the 2026 series delivered the most competitive battle yet, with both sides trading momentum before the visitors closed it out in Kampala.
For Uganda Legends, the Mombasa result was a landmark. Though they fell short in the return leg, stretching the series to the final whistle highlighted their capacity.
The day also featured a curtain-raiser where Uganda U20 Select lost 12–5 to a Premiership Select side. The fixture forms part of the U20s’ build-up to the Barthes Trophy, with the team using matches against U23 and Premiership opposition to prepare for continental age-grade rugby.

It was a lively day at Kampala Rugby Grounds, blending veterans’ rugby, youth development and a strong social turnout, capped by a gathering of players, officials and fans.

With Legends by Nondies retaining the Cup and Uganda Legends showing clear progress, the series continues to cement its place on the local rugby calendar.
