The women’s competition in the Safari 7s featured 5 teams i.e. Kanya 1, Kenya 2, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Titans Rugby Academy from South Africa.
The Lady Cranes had two games each day and remained unbeaten on the first day where they defeated Titans 12-24 and Zimbabwe 29-5 respectively. On the second day, they fell short to the two Kenya Lionesses sides 24-12 and 26-0 respectively.
‘’Generally, the tournament was astounding. With the short time that we had for preparation, the Ladies managed to work hard towards getting to the medal bracket. They managed to walk away as the Bronze medalists and this is a huge motivation to these young girls. I give credit to the ladies for passionately standing to represent their country Uganda and as management, we are proud of them and look forward to achieving more in the upcoming fixtures.Thank you to Uganda rugby union for the support towards the development of women’s rugby”– Coach Onen Charles
