This weekend, the southwestern town of Kabale transforms into a rugby battlefield as the National 7s Series reaches its penultimate stop, the Kabale 7s. With only one round remaining after this, every match counts, and every point matters.
Leading the standings with a 12-point cushion over Buffaloes, Walukuba Barbarians are the clear favorites. However, their grip on the championship is far from secure. Rivals such as Buffaloes, Heathens, and Pirates still harbor hopes of upsetting the leaderboard.

All eyes are on Kabale as the top teams’ clash in a battle for points. Every match will be fiercely contested, with teams giving their all to gain an advantage ahead of the final circuit.
Kobs have dominated southwestern Uganda tournaments, winning Tooro 7s in 2022 and 2023, plus Mbarara 7s in 2024. Pirates won the Kabale 7s in 2021 and have improved significantly this season. Their past success in the region will be a huge motivation for both teams.
Thunderbirds top the women’s standings with 96 points, closely followed by Avengers with 90. The other teams, such as: Nile Rapids, She Wolves, Walukuba Titans, and Black Pearls have all struggled to maintain their pace.
Adding extra excitement to the tournament are invitational teams including: Men’s: KIU Crows, Kigezi Silverbacks, Tooro Lions, Buddu Bears and Women’s: Kigezi Queens, Buddu Cup
