Friday, 1st May 2026 Confirmed As The Official Date For The Uganda Rugby AGM

Uganda Rugby Union will hold its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, May 1, at Hotel Africana, bringing together stakeholders for a crucial day of review, planning, and governance decisions.

The notice for the meeting was issued by Honorary Secretary Peter Odong in line with Article 10 of the URU Constitution. The Union, which is affiliated with World Rugby, Rugby Africa, RFUEA, National Council of Sports, and the Uganda Olympic Committee, confirmed that all key pre-AGM requirements have been met ahead of the gathering.
Member clubs successfully submitted their delegate names and titles before the April 24 deadline, while the window for queries on reports closed earlier on April 17 at the URU headquarters in Lugogo. Delegates will also have access to a comprehensive set of documents attached to the notice, including minutes from the 2025 AGM and Special General Meeting, the Executive Report, audited financial accounts, the proposed 2026 budget, and constitutional amendments aimed at aligning with National Council of Sports registration requirements.

The AGM is scheduled to follow a structured program beginning with delegate arrivals at 1:00 PM, before formal proceedings commence at 2:00 PM with a prayer, roll call, and the President’s address. Delegates will then move to confirm the minutes of the 2025 AGM, followed by presentations of the 2025 Executive and Financial Reports, including audited accounts.

Attention will then shift to the future, with discussions on the 2026 budget and key constitutional updates to ensure compliance with the Sports Act 2023. Elections will also be held to fill critical positions, including the 2nd Women’s Representative and two Athletes’ Representatives, highlighting URU’s continued efforts to strengthen inclusivity and athlete representation within its structures.

The meeting is expected to conclude at 5:30 PM, capping a full agenda that underscores URU’s focus on accountability, governance, and strategic growth.
