Everything About Game Week 3

Mongers survive late Impis Scare, Nile Rapids stun Avengers in a dramatic draw, Victoria Sharks seal second draw. 

Week 3 of the Uganda Rugby Premiership delivered thrills on the rainy February 21st, with women’s teams asserting dominance and men’s matches featuring a blockbuster upset and nail-biting draws. Played across various venues, the results shake up the standings and set the stage for intense rivalries ahead.

Women’s Premiership: 

The women’s division saw ruthless performances from the top sides. Black Pearls crushed She Wolves 44-0, showcasing clinical attacking play and flawless defence to extend their unbeaten run. Thunderbirds followed suit, overpowering Ewes 25-0 with superior forward power and backline speed.

A standout draw came in the Avengers vs Nile Rapids clash, ending 6-6. Both teams traded blows in a gritty contest, with Rapids’ resilience denying Avengers a victory and showing their potential as dark horses on a rise to dominate.

Men’s Premiership:

The men’s fixtures exploded with high scores, and drama. Heathens demolished Warriors 59-0, running in tries at will behind a rampant back row and pinpoint kicking, a statement win that cements them as weekends most points scorers at 5D Ranch in Kira.

KCB KOBs routed Hippos 50-12, Stanbic Black Pirates overwhelmed Rhinos 45-10 in what turned out to be a try scoring fiesta for Allan Karuhanga, and Umar Duff. Toyota Buffaloes blanked Kakira 31-0 in Kyadondo following successful set plays, and power moves.

The real excitement brewed elsewhere: Plascon Mongers held off Impis 17-16 in a last-gasp defensive masterclass, while Walukuba and Victoria Sharks battled to a tense 18-18 stalemate.

These results shook up the table, with Mongers maintaining 2nd place, and Impis left ruing missed chances, descending to 5th Position.
