Ghana has become the second international side to arrive in Uganda ahead of the 2026 Africa Men’s Sevens Series / World Rugby SVNS 3 Africa Qualifiers.

The team touched down at Entebbe International Airport at exactly 18:30 EAT.

Ghana is drawn in Pool A alongside Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Morocco.

The Ghana Rugby Football Union is targeting a historic milestone at the upcoming Sevens tournament, aiming to secure its first ever apperance in the World Rugby SVNS.

Following an intensive four month preparation period, the team arrives with full management backing and clear intent to translate their groundwork into a breakout performance. The squad is locked in on making history, with the captain emphasizing the magnitude of the opportunity: “Our expectation for this tournament is to qualify. We really, really want to qualify. If we end up qualifying, this will be the first time for us to also qualify to the HSBC SVNS. So, yeah, we mean business.”

Despite the high stakes, the team maintains a balanced and confident mood on the ground, backed by total organizational support.

“Everyone including the board and management, are doing everything possible for us to get here,” the captain added. “You can see that the guys are here and happy but, it also means they are in for business.”

The 2026 Africa Men’s Sevens Series kicks off on September 26-27 at Kyadondo, with eight nations battling for Africa’s sole ticket to the 2027 World Rugby SVNS III.
