The highly anticipated exhibition match between the Uganda All Stars and BlackRock FC happened officially on 16th August 2025 at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds. The match was initially scheduled to start at 3:00pm but was pushed back due to heavy rain and ended up starting at 4:30pm.

Despite the delay, fans at the stadium remained in high spirits as both teams took to the field. The weather was cold, but the fans brought the much-needed warmth and excitement to the atmosphere. Apart from the adorning fans, the match also drew several notable figures, including the Ambassador of Ireland to Uganda and Prince Wassajja. The national anthems for both Uganda and Ireland were sung, and then the action started immediately.
BlackRock RFC took early control, putting pressure on the Uganda All Stars. The visitors’ disciplined play and quick transitions allowed them to dominate the field, leading to multiple scoring opportunities. The visiting BlackRock side started strongly, with openside flanker Ciaran Patchell crossing for the first try in the 18th minute after sustained pressure. Winger Jamie Rogan added one more try before halftime and both converted by Fly half James Fennely, giving the Irish side a commanding 12-0 lead. Uganda’s sole response came through a penalty that was taken by William Nkore before the break, sending the teams to half time at 12-3.
The All Stars came out with renewed energy after halftime, dominating territory and control for long stretches. Their efforts were rewarded with a try from Micheal Wokorach, narrowing the gap to, Blackrocks 12-8 Uganda AllStars, and setting up a tense final quarter. The Uganda All Stars, known for their resilience, fought back in typical fashion. The home team’s best moments came late in the game. The Uganda All-Stars’ fightback was determined, but BlackRock’s defence held strong.
When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard read 19-8, in favour of BlackRock FC. Despite the loss, this encounter will be remembered for its intensity and the passionate support from Ugandan fans. BlackRock FC left Kyadondo with a convincing win, while the Uganda All Stars will look to build on the lessons learned. The fun at the games continued with a performance from one of Uganda’s top Female Artistes’ Cinderella Sanyu.
